Last updated on Tuesday, December 13, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Morgantown man was arrested Sunday morning after he caused a disturbance at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Police arrested 30-year-old Michael Weddle on charges of battery, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

According to a Bloomington Police report, officers were called to the hospital just before 8 p.m. Saturday about a male patient being combative with a female employee. The man had grabbing her wrist and then balling his fist as if to hit her.

When police arrived Weddel was using a pole, which holds IVs, and was using it to attempt to break a window. He then took an oxygen tank and began striking the closed door.

Officers attempted to speak to Weddel, but he became more aggressive. Officers used sponge rounds to subdue him.
