Bloomington Police Investigating Homicide, Suspect In Custody

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police are investigating a homicide that happened Tuesday afternoon 3300 block of Odell Drive.

Officers were called to the scene after a report of a stabbing at 1:46 p.m.

When police arrived they found a 46-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest on the first floor of the apartment.

Police are not releasing the victim's name at this time.

Rescue crew performed CPR and then transported him to IU Bloomington Health Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams, witnesses told police 48-year-old Kenneth Hawkins has stabbed the victim over a domestic disturbance.

Hawkins, who also admitted to stabbing the man, was arrested at the apartment without incident.

He was transported to the Monroe County Jail on charges of homicide, intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony and domestic battery, a Level 6 felony.

The case remains under investigation.
