(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested last week after he was accused of punching and choking a woman.
According to a Lawrence County Superior I probable cause affidavit, 54-year-old John Dennison of Bedford was charged with battery resulting in bodily injury and strangulation.
On November 22, Lawrence County Police Department officers were called to Dennison's home after a report of a battery.
When officers arrived, they spoke to the woman who told police that she and her family were staying with Dennison at his home. Dennsion became angry with her and put her in a head lock, choking her. She told police she couldn't breathe. She also alleges that Dennison hit her on the cheek and forehead with his fist.
Police say the woman had redness on her neck, cheek and forehead.
Another man, woman and a 16-year-old, who were at the home, witnessed the attack.
Dennison is being held in the Lawrence County Jail without bail because he was on probation at the time of this arrest.
