Bedford Man Arrested After Punching Man In Face

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested on two warrants for battery resulting in bodily injury, possession of marijuana and resisting law enforcement.

According to a Lawrence County Superior I probably cause affidavit, 34-year-old Zachary Kirchoff of Bedford allegedly battered a man on July 9.

The man reported to Mitchell Police that he was hanging out at a friend's home when he says Kirchoff ordered him to empty his pockets and to "bow down" to him.

The man bowed down and that is when Kirchoff allegedly grabbed him by the hair and began punching him in the face along with Carl Reynolds.

The man suffered swelling to his forehead and beneath his right eye, a black eye and a a bloody nose,

Reynolds admitted to the crime and added that Kirchoff was also involved.

Kirchoff told police he didn't hit the man, but Reynolds did.

The second warrant was issued after an incident on November 23.

That is when a 16-year-old and his aunt went to the Bedford Police Department to report a battery.

The teen, who has a mental disability, told police he was riding in a car with his mother and her boyfriend - Kirchoff. when Kirchoff began punching him in the face for no reason.

The teen told police his mother did noting to stop Kirchoff.

The boy suffered a large amount of swelling, bruising, cuts and bleeding to his face and head.

The mother told police that Kirchoff had punched her child once, but the boy deserved it.

Kirchoff was arrested Thursday, December 1 and is being held at the Lawrence County Jail without bond.
