ABATE Needs The Public's Help In Providing Christmas For Lawrence County Youth

Last updated on Friday, November 25, 2016

(BEDFORD) -

This year ABATE will again help with its annual Toys for Tots Christmas party. The party will be Dec. 18 at the Indiana National Guard Armory.

Last year the group provided gifts and a pizza party for more than 350 children.

But they need the public's help because donations are down this year.

The group is taking donations of new, unwrapped toys. Donation boxes are at Bedford Ford, Bedford Chrysler Dodge, Unique Boutique on Washington Avenue, Rural King, Dollar General in Oolitic, Orscheln on State Road 37 and Springleaf in Williams Crossing.

Officials ask that toys have a value of $10 and up.

If the group doesn't see an increase of donations, they will only be able to help around 250 children.

The group did hear some good new. The Bedford North Lawrence Student Council and Beta Club will provide about $1,000 worth of toys.

If donors want to arrange for toy donations to be picked up, they can call Mary Lou Harris, (812) 508-2402 or Bill Hanners, (812) 797-6780.
