Veterinary Feed Directive Program Scheduled For Thursday

Last updated on Monday, November 14, 2016

(BEDFORD) - Purdue Extension Lawrence County, in partnership with Zoetis and Spring Mill Veterinary Service, will present a program dealing with the Veterinary Feed Directive on Thursday.

The program is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds Expo Hall and is expected to end by 8 p.m. Light refreshments and drinks will be provided.

The program is free and is designed to help farmers and producers become better informed about what the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has done in changing federal laws regarding the use of some medically important antibiotics to minimize the opportunity for drug-resistant organisms to develop.

These changes will affect how livestock producers purchase and use some feed-administered medications on or before Jan. 2017. The program will be presented by Jerry Rusch of Spring Mill Veterinary Services, veterinary professionals from Orange and Washington counties in addition to a Zoetis representative. There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and interact with the professionals on hand that evening.

Those wishing to attend should contact the Purdue Extension - Lawrence County office for more information at (812) 275-4623.
