(BLOOMINGTON) - Police seized two AK-47 rifles, one semi-automatic handgun, cocaine, heroin and marijuana from a convicted felon on Tuesday evening.

The Herald Times reports that officials from the Indiana Department of Child Services retrieved three children who were found in the residence at the time of the search by probation officers and police officers.

Police arrested 30-year-old Anthony Charles Jr., on felony charges of dealing in a narcotic drug, possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. The Monroe County Prosecutor's Office is seeking a habitual offender enhancement in this case.

The Monroe County Probation Department asked Bloomington police detectives to assist with a probation search in the 1400 block of West Allen Street at about 7 p.m. Tuesday. Home visits and searches by the probation department are conditions of Charles' probation.

According to Bloomington Sgt. Joe Crider, detectives obtained a search warrant after reportedly seeing marijuana on the kitchen counter, an empty gun holster and a box for a Glock handgun. Police also smelled burnt marijuana. They found the guns and drugs.

Police say, Charles admitted one of the AK-47 rifles and the drugs were his. The case remains under investigation.

Police arrested a second man found at the home during the investigation - 23-year-old Mikieal Lee-Straham of Battle Creek, Michigan. He faces charges of dealing in a narcotic drug and false informing.
