Oolitic Man Facing Drug And Battery Charges

(OOLITIC) - An Oolitic man was arrested after police were called to a home in the 100 block of Sixth Street in Oolitic Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the home at 9:21 p.m. after a woman called saying 28-year-old Reed Crane was passed out inside her home.

"When officers entered the home they found Mr. Crane passed out on the couch and observed a glass pipe and cellophane wrapper laying on the floor,' says Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults. "The officers attempted to wake Mr. Crane and upon doing so he began trying to pull away from them and he struck one officer on the chest with his hand and attempted to push the officer away in an attempt to flee"

At that point there was a struggle to attempt to subdue Crane.

"It eventually resulted in Mr. Crane being tasered and brought under control," Shoults added.

Crane was arrested and taken to a local hospital where he was checked by medical staff and eventually released.

On the couch officers discovered .35 grams of heroin, a green-leafy substance that weighed .58 grams and field tested positive for synthetic marijuana and a scale.

Reed was transported to the Lawrence County Security Center and on charges of possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of synthetic marijuana, battery on a police officer, resisting by fleeing and force, maintaining common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.
