Last updated on Monday, November 28, 2016

(MORGANTOWN) - A Morgantown woman was injured Thursday afternoon after falling from a tree stand in rural Morgan County.

25-year-old Tamra Hayden was helping put up a tree stand on private property near the 5900 block of Old State Road 135. While attempting to secure to top portion of the stand to a tree, the tree stand shifted from the tree, causing Hayden to fall approximately 18 feet to the ground.

Responders were notified of the incident at approximately 1 p.m. Hayden was awake and breathing on scene, but due to possible injuries to her back and legs, was airlifted to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Indiana Conservation Officers investigating the incident advised Hayden is in stable condition, but the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.

Hayden was not hunting or wearing a safety harness at the time of the incident.

Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted on the scene by Morgantown Police Department, Morgantown EMS, Trafalgar EMS and Bargersville EMS.

Indiana Conservation Officers would like to remind everyone to wear a safety harness at all times while in a tree stand.
