(BLOOMINGTON) - A 23-year-old man has been arrested on a felony aggravated battery charge in connection with a stabbing that occurred at Brothers Bar & Grill of November 12.

Police arrested James Tussey following a routine traffic stop in the 1700 block of South Henderson Street Friday evening.

Bloomington Police Lt. John Kovach says Tussey was arrested on felony charges of aggravated battery and battery. He is being held on a $30,000 surety, $500 cash bond. Tussey denied being at Brothers Bar and Grill that night.

Earlier in the week, Bloomington police received an anonymous tip from a caller who alerted police they were a witness to the stabbing and identified Tussey as the attacker.

The stabbing was reported on November 12 around 2:20 a.m. when emergency crews were called to the bar at 215 North Walnut Street. Once there they found a 23-year-old man had been stabbed twice in the stomach. He was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment.

Police say witnesses told police the man who was stabbed had been moving from table to table, causing problems and instigating arguments before bar staff escorted him outside.

The man told police he went outside to smoke a cigarette and another man asked him to go to the alley. That is when the other man stabbed him.
