(SPRINGVILLE) - A Linton man has died following a vehicle accident on Ind. 54 West on Monday morning.

The accident happened at 5:45 a.m.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 32-year-old Chad Brown, of Linton, was traveling east on Ind. 54 West when the 1999 Ford Explorer he was driving began to slide sideways on the wet road.

The vehicle went off the south side of the road and struck a tree.

Brown had to be freed from the wreckage by the Bedford Fire Department extrication unit and Perry Volunteer Fire Department first responders.

Brown suffered internal and head injuries, but did talk to police as he was being loaded into an IU Health Hospital ambulance.

Brown was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, but while enroute he went into cardiac arrest.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
