Developer Plans To Build More Condominiums In Green Gables Subdivision

Last updated on Monday, November 21, 2016

(BEDFORD) - Developer Jamie Wisley was granted permission by the Bedford Plan Commission to expand his plans for building more condominiums in a subdivision west of Lilac Lane in the Green Gables subdivision. The 10-acre subdivision is north of U.S. 50 and Limestone Run Road.

Wisley plans to build a total of 56 condominiums. If the first eight do not sell quickly he will likely build single-family homes on the lots instead of more condos.

If Wisley were to proceed with the expansion beyond the eight condos, a road would be constructed.

The plan commission told Wisley they would like to see sidewalks built, but Wisley countered that his development is not like other city neighborhoods but a country community. He also stressed that adding sidewalks would add an additional $85,000 to $100,000 to the project, but not increase the value of the property

Plan Director Dan Kirk told Wisley the Bedford City Council might not accept the new street if sidewalks are not constructed, meaning the street would not receive city services such as snow removal and trash pickup.

Now Wisley's proposed expansion and will move to the next phase a public hearing.
