Last updated on Friday, November 11, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - The Indiana State Police at the Bloomington Post recently celebrated the career of Tammy Brock, a native of Morgantown and Regional Dispatcher (RD), who recently retired after 37 years of service to the citizens of the State of Indiana.

Tammy's Indiana State Police career started immediately after graduating from Brown County High School in 1979, going straight to work as a Crash Records Clerk at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Indianapolis.

In 1981 she transferred to the Crime Information Center at GHQ where she served until 1992. RD Brock came to the Bloomington Post in 1992 where she served as a Data Input Operator through 1994, until finally becoming a Dispatcher where she served until her recent retirement.

Telecommunications operators, for the Indiana State Police, work from six regional dispatch centers located in Bloomington, Versailles, Fort Wayne, Lowell, Bristol (Toll Road) and Indianapolis. They are responsible for dispatching troopers and motor carrier inspectors to calls for service in 92 counties. Dispatchers play a pivotal role in the safety of police officers and public safety officials nationwide.

Commonly referred to as regional dispatchers, they use telephones, radios, computers, and technical skills to answer calls for emergency assistance and dispatch first responders to the site of an emergency. They also provide support to field personnel, the general public, local police agencies, emergency medical services, the National Weather Service, and other governmental agencies.

Tammy has been married to Roger Brock for 35 years. They have three stepchildren, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
