Bedford Man Arrested After Hurting Woman And Child

Last updated on Thursday, November 10, 2016

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he allegedly harmed a woman and her child.

Bedford Police arrested 26-year-old Ethan Terrell of Bedford on charges of domestic battery, strangulation, battery on a person under the age of 14 or younger and resisting law enforcement.

According to a Lawrence County Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, on Sunday, police were called to the 2900 block of Ted Jones Drive after a report of a domestic dispute.

When police arrived at the apartment a woman ran out of the building and was screaming. Terrell followed her out the apartment door and tackled her to the ground. Police say the woman was struck violently when she was tackled.

When officers attempted to pull Terrell from the woman and arrest him, he initially resisted and had to be forcibly placed into the police car.

After arrested Terrell, the woman told police, Terrell had grabbed and strangled her cutting off her air supply. She also alleges Terrell had slammed her to the floor.

The woman claims an 8-year-old child was in the apartment during the dispute and tried to get Terrell away from her and that is when Terrell allegedly hit the child in the face causing him to bleed.

Terrell then threw a baking sheet at the child and threatened to kill both the woman and the child.

Terrell is being held without bond at the Lawrence County jail because at the time of this arrest he was out of jail on an earlier charge on his own recognizance.
