(LOOGOOTEE) - Two Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies and a Reserve Deputy accidentally inhaled a white powdery substance while searching a bag in a car during a traffic stop in Loogootee on Saturday.

All three were treated at Daviess Community Hospital and released.

According to a press release, Deputy Tyler Reed was on patrol at 11:28 p.m. when he spotted a vehicle that did not have a functioning license plate light. The vehicle was stopped and Deputy Reed asked if there was any illegal substances in the vehicle.

That is when the driver, Dustin Seals, presented Deputy Reed and Reserve Deputy JD Graves with marijuana from a compartment inside the vehicle.

The officers then had Seals exit the vehicle so they could do a more thorough search. That is when Deputy Cody Shinn arrived on the scene. Officers found numerous items used in the making of meth. While searching a bag, a plume of a white powdery substance was released into the passenger compartment which the deputies ingested.

Additional units were then requested including Indiana State Trooper Andrew Beaver, Loogootee Police Officer Jim Floyd, Martin County EMS, and other first responders.

Seals was arrested on charges of possession of meth, two counts of maintaining a common nuisance, three counts of dealing in Meth, possession of precursors, possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, criminal recklessness and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A search of Seals' home on Sunday produced a small amount of marijuana and some drug paraphernalia after K9 Roxy alerted police to possible drugs hidden in clothing in a closet in the master bedroom.

Seals is being held under $50,000 bond in the Martin County Jail.
