(BLOOMINGTON) - On Friday afternoon, Indiana University Police arrested three people after a report of individuals making purchases of laptop computers using fraudulent credit cards at the Mac Store in the Indiana Memorial Union.
After selling 3 laptops to the suspects, employees at the store were notified that the transactions were believed to have been made with stolen credit card numbers. The same suspects then attempted to make purchases at the Mac Experience store on N. Walnut Street in Bloomington.
The purchases were denied and the clerk at the store was able to provide officers with a description of the vehicle that the suspects were in, a white U-Haul van with Arizona license plates.
At approximately 3 p.m., IUPD officers located a vehicle matching the description and initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of East 7 th Street and Woodlawn Avenue. The three were taken to the Indiana University Police Department, where they were interviewed by detectives. Search warrants were obtained for the vehicle and a hotel room where the suspects had been staying.
The laptop computers were recovered along with other items of evidentiary value. The value of the laptops totaled $6,951.79.
All three, from Georgia, - Marissa Lebron, Nijah Hall, and Jeremy Fortson were arrested on charges of theft. Hall is also facing charges of fraud.
