(BEDFORD) - A Springville man pleaded guilty to domestic battery.
48-year-old Stacy Bland who was facing charges of battery, strangulation, domestic battery and interfering with reporting a crime was set to face a jury of his peers Thursday, but instead pleaded guilty to a Level 5 felony charge of battery in a negotiated plea deal. He will be sentenced on November 2.
According to a Lawrence County police report, Bland was arrested May 31 after Bland's fiancee told police Bland had been drinking, grabbed her by the throat and pushed her against the counter. She told police when Bland had his hands around her neck it was hard for her to breathe.
