Perry Volunteer Firefighter Charged With Arson

(SPRINGVILLE) - A Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department firefighter was arrested Thursday for starting fires in the Springville area.

19-year-old Adam Selbee is facing four felony counts of arson and is facing charges of obstructing traffic and three counts of criminal recklessness, both Class B misdemeanors.

He posted bond Friday and was released from jail.

Selbee is the grandson of Perry Township VFD Chief Max Peters. Peters said Selbee is currently suspended from the department.

The State Fire Marshal and the Indiana Department of Homeland of Security are investigating the case. No other details were available.

Over the past few months, there have been a rash of fires in Perry Township. A house in the 2800 block of Harrodsburg Road questionable-fire-destroys-springville-home.was destroyed by an intentional fire on October 3, a house and a barn fire-engulfs-older-home-and-barn-in-springville.were destroyed on Springville-Judah Road in September and the Springville gymnasium, used as a community center, fire-destroys-old-springville gym.was destroyed in July.

In addition, the Perry Township VFD has responded to numerous hay bale fires.
