Last updated on Friday, October 21, 2016

(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested Wednesday after he pushed his wife into a television, leaving her with abrasions and bruises.

36-year-old Jeremy D. Jones was arrested on a warrant for domestic battery.

On September 24, Mitchell Police Department went to the 400 block of East Hancock Avenue after a 911 call reporting a domestic fight.

According to a Lawrence Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, the woman told police she and her husband had been separated for a few weeks, and that he tried to take her car. When she confronted him about taking her car, he allegedly became verbally abusive and threw the keys at her leaving a wound on her hand.

Jones then started packing some of his belongings from the house and tried to take a video console his child was using to watch a video. The wife then stood in front of the television and that is when Jones moved towards her and pushed her into the television. This caused her to fall with such force that the television broke, leaving the woman with abrasions and bruises.

Jones was booked into the Lawrence County jail at 7:48 pm. Wednesday. As of this morning, he was at the jail with his bond set at $7,500 and $755 cash.
