(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested Thursday night after causing a disturbance at an apartment and injuring a woman.

Mitchell Police arrested 21-year-old Cody Powell on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor, strangulation and criminal confinement.

According to Mitchell Police, officers were alerted to the disturbance at an apartment in the 200 block of North Sixth Street at 8:11 p.m. after a woman texted her friends requesting help.

When police arrived Powell had fled.

The woman told police that Powell had choked her and wouldn't let her leave the apartment.

Two juveniles witnessed the incident.

Police later found Powell at his home in the 6000 block block of State Road 60 West. He was arrested and is being held without bond because he was on probation for a previous battery at the time of this arrest.
