Construction Worker Injured On State Road 56 In Daviess County

Last updated on Thursday, October 13, 2016

(DAVIESS CO.) - Northbound lanes of Interstate 69 in Daviess County were closed for hours Tuesday following two accidents — including a multi-car pileup.

The first accident happened shortly after 4 p.m. when a construction worker was struck by a vehicle in a work zone.

The accident happened just south of the State Road 56 exit in northern Daviess County.

The unnamed worker was taken to Daviess Community Hospital for treatment of severe injuries.

The accident caused a backup of traffic on I-69 northbound.

The backup led to a reported second accident involving at least six cars.

That accident also resulted in injuries.

INDOT officials remind everyone to watch their speed and be alert for men and women working in construction areas.
