(BLOOMINGTON) - A Monroe County school bus driver was arrested Tuesday after investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on October 11.
Police also seized electronic and digital evidence linked to the residence of 43-year-old Timothy M. Poteat, according to Bloomington police Lt. Brad Seifers. Police seized several computers, phones, external hard drives and flash drives. Forensic investigators are still examining the devices.
Poteat was arrested in the 500 block of North Drive, which is in the vicinity of the corporation's bus lot.
Poteat did not give a statement to police and requested an attorney. He was arrested on a preliminary felony charge of child exploitation and booked into the Monroe County Jail, where his bond is on hold.
Poteat has driven a school bus for Monroe County schools since March 2015.
A spokesman for the Monroe County Community School Corporation issued the following statement Wednesday:
"As you know, the safety and security of our children is our first priority. It is with great sadness that we have been made aware of an arrest of an Monroe County Community School Corporation bus driver yesterday evening by the Bloomington Police Department. We are ready to assist the BPD in any way possible. Again, the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority."
