Last updated on Monday, October 24, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man is behind bars after he walked into a restaurant downtown and tried to stab an employee.

Bloomington Police arrested 33-year-old Chadley Lintz on Wednesday.

Lintz was tied to two crimes. In the first, a man said he was repeatedly punched in the face and robbed at 6th and Lincoln. Lintz has not been charged in that case.

In the other case, Lintz faces multiple charges.

According to court documents, an employee was in the kitchen at Grazie Italian restaurant around 2:45, when Lintz walked in through the back door.

He initially thought that Lintz was a new employee and asked him to identify himself. The employee told police he believed Lintz was intoxicated and asked him to leave. That is when Lintz "pushed past (him) ... grabbed a kitchen knife which was sitting on a table," then "...held the knife in a manner as to 'stab him,' and began charging towards him."

The employee was able to escape into the restaurant and call police. Lintz left, and was later caught by officers at a parking garage across from the Monroe County Jail.

Prosecutors charged Lintz with criminal recklessness and intimidation, both felonies, as well as misdemeanors for possession of a controlled substance, theft, resisting law enforcement, and battery.
