Last updated on Friday, October 14, 2016

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested Monday after police found meth and drug paraphernalia in a home on S Street.

Bedford Police arrested 33-year-old Billie Jean Hatcher of Bedford on charges of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers received information that drugs were in a home in the 600 block of S Street. The homeowner told police Hatcher had previously lived at the home with her children, ages 15 and 11, but recently moved out and left some of her items behind.

In the home police found a syringe and spoon under the mattress. Both items had residue on them that field-tested positive for meth.

Police found Hatcher sleeping in a co-worker's vehicle and she was arrested. Police searched her purse and found a tube with residue that also field-tested positive for meth.

Hatcher was booked into the Lawrence County jail at 11:50 a.m. Monday. She posted a $755 cash bond later that day and was released.
