(BEDFORD) - Bedford Police officers are putting away their razors to participate in No Shave November.

The event is a fundraiser for Bertha's Mission.

Chief Dennis Parsley says the department has a long-standing policy that prevents officers from growing beards, but he decided to lift the policy to help the mission serve free meals in Bedford and Mitchell.

Officers who want to grow a beard will donate $25 Bertha's Mission.
