Last updated on Monday, September 5, 2016

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County police continue to investigate an accident early Friday morning that left a Jackson County man dead.

The crash that killed 36-year-old Shawn Matthew Brown, of Vallonia was reported at 1:31 a.m. Friday at Jackson Street and Dive Road, just north of Bedford.

Few details of the wreck were available, but Brown reportedly was wearing a seat belt at the time. The vehicle's airbag did not deploy.

A Seals ambulance, Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department, Bedford Fire Department extrication unit and a StatFlight medical helicopter were alerted. The Lawrence County coroner's office was contacted at 1:46 a.m. Friday.

The Seymour Tribune reports, Brown was the father of three children, Jordin Brown, Aiden Brown and Felicity Brown and the son of Mark and Linda Brown, who survive in Seymour, and the grandson of Edna Akers of Seymour and Brenda Brown of Medora.

He was married to Amanda Giltner, and she survives in Vallonia.

He worked for H&L Tree Trimming and was known as a thrill seeker and loved the outdoors. He also loved to be on the water kayaking, canoeing and fishing, and he enjoyed hiking and camping while never resisting the urge to play in the campfire.

A celebration of Shawn's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until service time.

Memorials may be made to Shawn Brown Memorial Fund to help family with expenses. Friends may sign the guestbook and share a favorite memory at WoodlawnFamilyFuneral.com. Some of these memories will be shared at his celebration Wednesday.
