(GREENE CO.) - The second annual motorcycle ride to fight breast cancer is presented by the Greene County General Hospital Foundation, and set to take place on Saturday, September 24.

Kelly Slaven, of the Greene County Daily World reports, proceeds will fund free mammograms for women who can't afford them in Greene County, according to Greene County General Hospital Foundation Coordinator Kyle Cross.

Registration will be the day of the event beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The ride is not scheduled to depart until 10:30 a.m., and will last until around 2 p.m. when the route takes the group back to the hospital.

The route plans to go through much of Greene County and by various landmarks, according to Cross. The route is approximately 100 miles and will include several stops for any travel necessities.

It's no accident the event comes right before breast cancer awareness month in October, as it serves to raise awareness and fight breast cancer through proactivity in mammograms.

"Currently, a mammogram is the most accurate method of detecting breast cancer, but it cannot find all breast cancers," according to the official website for the Greene County General Hospital.

For those who don't want to participate in the motorcycle ride, but still wish to support the cause, T-shirts are available for purchase through online order or on the day of the event while supplies last.

Lunch will be served in the cafeteria at the hospital after riders return.

Single rider registration costs $25 and includes a t-shirt and meal. Two riders costs $35 and includes two meals and one t-shirt; extra t-shirts cost $15.

To register, visit greenecountyhospital.com/foundation/motorcycle-ride/ or pick up a paper form at the registration desk in the hospital.
