Last updated on Tuesday, September 20, 2016
(MITCHELL) - The 70th Annual Persimmon Festival with this year’s theme - Healing Hands…Helping Heart - is celebrating those in the medical profession.
Festival Chairman Henry Shetler is inviting the public to celebrate with Mitchell by honoring the medical community.
"I chose this theme to honor the men and women in the medical community," Shetler wrote. "It's important to me to honor dedicated professionals who've spent their lives making the people of Mitchell healthy."
This week, in honor of the 70th anniversary of the festival, organizers have increased the entertainment options downtown, bringing in musical artists who are sure to be crowd pleasers.
The Traveling Vietnam Wall will visit Mitchell for the first time. It will be stationed at City Hall on South Sixth Street. It will arrive in Mitchell Wednesday and be erected on Thursday. The public is invited to visit the wall and pay tribute to those men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service.
