(DAVIESS CO.) - Police in two counties are now looking for a juvenile who fled a Daviess County Courtroom Friday.

According to police, just after 10 a.m. Friday, the 15-year-old Alex Jorelus fled from the Daviess Circuit Court, leaving the courthouse. Officers say the teen had been sent to the Youth Village after a recent run in with law enforcement. They are not saying what that crime is. The teen had been brought back to Washington for a hearing at the time of his escape.

Washington Police are not releasing the identity of the juvenile. He is about 6-feet-3-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. Jorelus is a black teen with dredlocks with red tips and was last seen wearing either dark blue or black scrubs from the Southwest Indiana Regional Youth Village.

The escape led Washington Catholic Elementary, just north of the courthouse to go on a voluntary lock down for about a half hour, on Friday.

Police searched the area just north of the courthouse Friday morning and into the afternoon.

A woman working out at the YMCA told police she saw him run east on Flora Street before turning off and running between two houses. Officers with K9's combed the area looking to pick up a lead.

Meanwhile, authorities received a report that the boy had been picked up by a female in a white SUV. Police traced that lead to Washington's west end but did not find the juvenile.

On Saturday, police received information that the teen was spotted near Hwy. 57 Liquors, but police were unable to locate the teen.

Even though the juvenile is considered a Washington resident, police say he has several connections to neighboring Knox County and he may be in that county.
