24 Teens Cited For Drinking At Large Party

(DUBOIS CO.) - Police were called to a party near Beaver Lake and cited 24 teens for underage drinking Saturday night.

According to a press release, officers were called to a party on County Road 315 East around 10 p.m. that may involved underage drinking. Deputies and Indiana State Police arrived on scene at about 10:15 p.m. and found a large party in progress.

Several people ran from the party, some even heading to the lake.

Authorities detained 50 people and tested them for alcohol consumption. They cited 24 teens between the ages of 15 and 18 for underage drinking. Deputies reported the blood alcohol content of those teens was between .03 percent and .20 percent.

Indiana Conservation Officers were contacted to assist deputies to ensure the safety of the persons that went into the lake. No persons had to be rescued from the water.

Officers were on scene for about four hours while persons were tested and parents were contacted.

Those 24 persons who were under the age of 18 that had been drinking. Their information was forwarded to the Dubois County Juvenile Probation Department and those over 18 will have their information forwarded to the Dubois County Prosecutors office for charges of minor consuming alcohol, a Class C Misdemeanor.
