Five People Arrested In Bloomington Drug Investigation

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police arrested five people early Thursday morning after seizing more than 36 grams of Spice and hydrocodone pills from a southside apartment.

Narcotics investigators launched their investigation after residents at the apartment complex called police months ago to complain about possible drug activity in the 2400 block of South Burberry Lane.

According to Bloomington Police Department Lt. John Kovach, police used confidential informants to conduct controlled buys of the synthetic marijuana from 24-year-old Abdul Jacobs and 25-year-old Vincent Thompson Jr.

Investigators and the Critical Incident Response Team served a search warrant at their apartment at about 12:50 Thursday morning. there they found bags of Spice, pills and scales in Jacobs' bedroom.

Kovach says,Jacobs admitted to selling Spice for $20 a gram.

Jacobs and Thompson were arrested on felony charges of dealing in a synthetic substance and maintaining a common nuisance.

Police arrested three others living at the apartment were arrested on felony charges of maintaining a common they were 24-year-old Lavail McKnight, 25-year-old Lorenzo McKnight, and his girlfriend, 26-year-old Audra Mason. All three told police they didn't know about the men selling the Spice.

Department of Child Services assisted at the scene and removed Mason's 8-year-old child who was also living at the apartment. The child was released to a female family member.
