Davis Memorial Church Of Nazarene Purchases Former Englewood School

Last updated on Thursday, September 15, 2016

(BEDFORD) - Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene has purchased the former Englewood School.

The church purchased the building for $80,000 from the North Lawrence Community Schools at an auction in June and reopened the school as the Englewood Campus. The campus features a daycare center for children birth through age 4.

Englewood was a school for students with special needs until its closure in May 2014.

The building has been painted and new LED lighting and floors were installed throughout the facility.

Englewood Campus has been open for about three weeks and currently serves around 42 students.

The daycare is open from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and offers a Christian-based curriculum. There currently no openings for infants and the 1-2 year old age brackets, but there are openings for 3 - and 4-year-olds. The facility has 10 employees and offers a secure environment. For more information about enrollment call (812) 329-6019.

The building includes a new facility for teens and has a gym with a kitchen.

By moving some existing ministries to the Englewood campus, it allows for expansion of other ministries at the main campus at 504 19th St. That campus includes four buildings that are used for various ministries.
