(BLOOMINGTON) - The daughter of former Indiana University football coach Terry Hoeppner died in a vehicle accident Saturday morning.

According to a Monroe County Police report, 45-year-old Allison Hoeppner of Bloomington was pronounced dead at the intersection of Ind. 37 and Old Ind. 37 South around midnight.

Hoeppner had attempted to turn her 2003 Subaru northbound onto Ind. 37 when her car was struck by a 2003 Prevost bus driven by 42-year-old Johnathan Brewer of Haptonville, N.C., according to police.

An investigation determined that Hoeppner had the right of way, and Brewer had failed to stop at the traffic light.

While there was no evidence of impairment, Brewer was transported to IU Health Bloomington for a blood draw.

IU Athletics Director Fred Glass offered a statement of condolence to the Hoeppner family "on behalf of Hoosiers everywhere."

"A beloved member of the IU Athletics family, Allison was a brave cancer survivor, a tireless advocate for cancer research, and a loving and devoted mother, daughter and friend who possessed her father's infectious enthusiasm and love of life," Glass said.

Her father, Terry Hoeppner, died of brain cancer in 2007. He was 45 years old.

"We are shocked and saddened by this terrible tragedy," Kevin Wilson, IU's current football coach, said in a statement. "The Hoeppners mean a great deal, not only to me and my family, but to the entire IU football family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jane (Allison's mother) and the Hoeppner family."
