Board of Depositories Executive Director Visits Hoosier Hills Credit Union

Last updated on Monday, September 26, 2016

(BEDFORD) - Diana Moers Davis, Executive Director of the Board of Depositories, recently visited George McNichols, President and CEO of Hoosier Hills Credit Union, at the Credit Union’s Bedford headquarters.

McNichols is the first credit union executive to ever serve on the Board of Depositories Board of Directors.

McNichols and Davis toured the Bedford Annex building and met with a number of staff members including Bill McFadden, Vice President of Commercial Member Services, and Nick Webb, Commercial Relationship Manager, who both oversee public deposit accounts in HHCU's market areas. The goal of the visit was to help Davis become more familiar with Hoosier Hills Credit Union and to hear how public unit relationships were going.

McNichols said there are 165 financial institutions in the state of Indiana that are able to accept public funds."I am honored to have been appointed by the Governor of Indiana to the Board of Depositories," commented McNichols. "And Hoosier Hills appreciates the opportunity to work with many public units within the credit union's market area."

The Board for Depositories was created by Indiana as an independent body. The Board consists of the Governor, State Treasure, State Auditor, Chairman of the Department of Financial Institutions, Chief Examiner of the State Board of Accounts, and four appointed members representing approved depositories.

The purpose of the Board is to insure the safekeeping and prompt payment of all public funds deposited in any depository, to the extent they are not covered by insurance of any federal deposit insurance agency, by maintaining and operating in its own name the public deposit insurance fund.
