(BLOOMFIELD) - The 47th Annual Bloomfield Apple Festival is set to begin on Friday, October 7.

The parade will take place on Sunday, October 9, weather permitting.

Held in the Bloomfield town park, the fall festival includes carnival rides, food, vendors, live music, various contests, a quilt auction, art exhibit, 5k Run, wiffle ball tournament and live demonstrations.

The Greene County Daily World reports, vendors, contest participants and artists can register by turning in the appropriate form and fee to: The Bloomfield Apple Festival Incorporated at P.O Box 211, Bloomfield, Ind. 47424.

Forms can be obtained by printing them from the official Bloomfield Apple Festival website, by emailing contact@bloomfieldapplefestival.com, or sent electronically by downloading and sending them through an email.

New this year is the Tractor Show on October 8, taking place in the parking lot across from the Bloomfield Christian Church, as well as a Corn Hole Contest.

Live entertainment includes: Michael Cochrane, Kade Pucket, Cornfields & Crossroads Bluegrass Band, Back Woods Blue Grass, Lloyd Wood Band, Haywire, Rebuilt Band, Deep Fried Rye Band and more.

Driving vehicles in the park will not be allowed during entertainment.

The stage will be set up on Thursday evening, and vehicles loading or unloading vendor equipment can only park behind the stage for a maximum of 20 minutes, making early set up during the day on Thursday much easier.
Security will be in the park on both Thursday and Friday night.

Vendors should get contracts and registration forms in as soon as possible in order to be placed on the map and to receive a preferred location. According to Apple Festival Board Secretary Judy Bransetter, many food vendors plan to open on Thursday.

This year, craft vendors will no longer have to have their own insurance. The Town of Bloomfield has added a rider to their insurance policy which will be reimbursed by the festival. In order to cover the expense, the cost of a Non-Profit site has increased by $5, and a For-Profit site by $10.

Bransetter suggests setting up early if possible to beat the rush and confusion of Friday morning. For most vendors , set up can take place from 8 am to 8 pm on Thursday.

Commercial food vendors parking on the street cannot set up until after 3:15 on Thursday so school buses are able to get to and from school.

All vendors must be set up by 8 a.m. on Friday morning.

Assistance in packing up after the festival will be available, although it will not begin until the crowd has gone or significantly thinned out on Saturday night.

Closing times for the festival are indefinite to accommodate weather and when visitors begin to leave the festival. Vendors are encouraged to stay open, but must be packed up by midnight on Saturday.

Vendor sites will be assigned up until September 30, with late sign ups assigned as received. Bransetter said she is trying to keep vendors generally in the same areas they have been in previously.

Tent stakes are not allowed to be used in the park, and four sandbags will be available to use for each 10' space. Space sizes are strictly enforced and non-refundable in the case of inclement weather or a no-show. Vendors are to keep areas clean and free of clutter.

Fees are to be paid by check or money order, made payable to the Bloomfield Apple Festival.

A full schedule of events will be updated as event times are released on the official Bloomfield Apple Festival Facebook page, as well as on www.bloomfieldapplefestival.com.
