Bedford Man Arrested After Police Find More Than A Gram Of Meth

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after police stopped his vehicle after he failed to stop at several stop signs Friday night.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, an officer was on routine patrols when he witnessed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign at 5th and L streets.

"The officer turned around his police vehicle and activated his lights to stop the vehicle," Parsley says. "That is when he witnessed the driver fail to stop at the intersection of 5th and R streets."

The officer was finally able to stop the vehicle a short distance from the intersection and a K-9 was called to the scene to search the vehicle.

"The dog alerted to possible drugs inside," Chief Parsley added.

Officers found the driver, 51-year-old Troy Howe, with two containers in his pockets that contained a white crystal substance that field tested positive for meth. They also located several containers inside the vehicle that contained various pills.

Howe was arrested on charges of possession and dealing in meth, possession of a schedule IV and II controlled substances and possession of a legend drug.
