(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested after police received a call about a possible intoxicated driver Saturday night.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, police were alerted at 10:05 p.m. about a possible intoxicated driver in a gold vehicle with the trunk tied down in the area of 15th and L streets.

Police found the vehicle parked at the car wash with a female standing outside of the vehicle.

Police spoke to 32-year-old Carmen Stewart of Bedford and discovered she was intoxicated.

"Officers had her perform several field sobriety test, which she failed," Chief Parsley says. "They then discovered she had a green-leafy substance in her purse which field tested positive for marijuana."

Stewart was arrested on charges of public intoxication and possession of marijuana.
