(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman who was wanted on a warrant was arrested during a court proceeding at Courthouse Plaza Tuesday, but not before she caused a disturbance in the courtroom.

Lawrence County Police arrested 20-year-old Taylor King, of 702 26th St., on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest by fleeing and a warrant for petition to revoke a suspended sentence.

On Tuesday afternoon, a civil process server with the Lawrence County Police Department was working as a Courthouse Plaza security officer during lunch hour when he was informed King, who was wanted on a warrant, was in Lawrence Superior Court I.

Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham says, the civil process server and the transportation officer, who are both special deputies, went to the courtroom and talked to her about the warrant.

"She then turned and ran toward the exit," Branham says."And she continued to exit the courtroom after being told to stop."

Both officers caught up with King at the bottom of the stairs in the basement area where the courtroom is located.

They then attempted to handcuff King and that is when she began screaming and struggling with the officers.

Officers told her to stop multiple times. They were finally able to subdue and handcuff King.

King was booked into the Lawrence County jail at 2:19 p.m. She is being held without bond because she was on probation at the time of her arrest.
