Accused Child Murderer Kyle Parker Facing New Charges

Last updated on Wednesday, September 14, 2016

(OWEN CO.) - The Owen County Prosecutor is seeking life without parole for an accused child killer Kyle Parker.

Parker was charged with the murder of 15-month-old Shaylyn Ammerman in March.

On Monday, Owen County Prosecutor Donald VanDerMoere filed to add five additional counts to Parker's charges.

VanDerMoere says the new counts are alleged aggravating circumstances. If Parker is found guilty, VanDerMoere will seek to prove one or more of the aggravating circumstances and make Parker eligible for life without parole.

Parker is due back in court for a pretrial conference on October 5.

Additionally, Parker has sent a letter to the judge in the case requesting to be moved from Owen County to a Department of Correction holding facility.

Police say Parker took the toddler from her crib at her father's home after spending the night at a family party. He then brutally raped and killed the girl and dumped her body in a wooded area in Owen County.

Parker told investigators where to find the body and confessed to his stepfather that he'd killed the child.
