(BEDFORD) - Wiley Art Gallery will host a show by artist Mary Jo Cannedy, celebrating water.

In watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastel, Cannedy's show depicts water in streams, lakes, snow, and fountains.

The show will open with a public reception on Friday, August 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery, located at 1402 J Street in Bedford.

During a recent trip to Provence, France, Cannedy attended an unstructured workshop that allowed her to paint in lavender fields, villages and towns off the beaten path, and the asylum in St. Remy where Vincent Van Gough lived and painted. Cannedy's painting of a fountain in a village near Avignon is included in her exhibit.

A native of Bedford, Mary Jo Cannedy is a long time member of the Lawrence County Art Association, having served as president and currently on the board of directors. Art has been part of her life since her earlies memories and she studied many different medium and techniques over the years. Her work has won prizes and is also on display at Spring Mill Inn and St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.

Mary Jo Cannedy's show will continue through September 17.

The gallery is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 1 p.m. till 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
