Unionville Man Arrested After Alarm Sounds At Rural King Gun Counter

Last updated on Wednesday, August 31, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Unionville man was arrested Tuesday after the alarm sounded at the gun counter at Bloomington’s Rural King.

Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams says officers responded to the alarm at 3:45 a.m.

Officers Jeff Rees and Andy Fosnaugh found a pry bar by the farm and garden area door area. They apprehended 44-year-old David Sebree as he ran from the store in the 3200 block of Ind. 45.

Sebree faces charges of burglary, dealing in a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and theft.

The drug charges stem from vials of prescription medication that police say were stolen from Sebree's neighbor's house and found on Sebree when he was arrested.

Police say Sebree had climbed an outer fence to gain entry to the outdoor store area and the building entrance.

But Sebree didn't realize that the store's gun inventory is locked in a safe at night, so no guns were on display where they could be stolen.
