Two Injured After Driver Crashes Trying To Avoid Animal In Roadway

(BEDFORD) - Two people were injured when the driver of the vehicle they were in attempted to avoid hitting an animal in the roadway on Dixie Highway Thursday night.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 17-year-old Drew McKamey of Springville was traveling south Dixie Highway at 11:21 p.m. when an animal ran in front of his 2007 Ford. McKamey hit the brakes causing the vehicle to run off the right side of the road. The vehicle traveled 60 feet down an embankment and rolled.

Everyone was able to exit the vehicle.

McKamey complained of right shoulder pain. One of his passengers, Clayton Anderson complained of pain to his head and right wrist. Two other passengers, Jimmie Arthur and Josh Ritchie, were not injured during the incident.

A Seals ambulance crew and Marion Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene
