Star Plus Will Help BNL Students Receive Credits Needed For Graduation

Last updated on Monday, August 15, 2016

(BEDFORD) - Students at Bedford North Lawrence High School who are behind on the credits needed to graduate can recover those credits through the Star Plus program.

According to school officials, those who need the additional credits will receive them during their study hall periods, so they don't miss other needed classes. Once the student successfully recovers the needed credit they will resume the study hall time in their schedules.

Star Plus allows students who are behind, to take a test to determine placement in the needed class and then start off where they need the help to successfully complete the course. Math courses will not be offered through the Star Plus program. They will attend a "looping class" with a teacher which will be offered during every period throughout the day.

Seniors are given first priority, followed by juniors and sophomores. The highest grade given will be a C, which will prevent students from retaking a class simply to improve their grade point average.
