(CRANE) - U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly will host U.S. Chief of Naval Operations Admiral John Richardson for a visit to Naval Support Activity (NSA) Crane on Tuesday.

"I am honored to host Admiral Richardson in Indiana. Crane is home to extraordinary Hoosiers who are playing a critical role in protecting our national security and equipping our warfighters, and that is why I invited our Chief of Naval Operations to visit," says Donnelly, who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

CNO Richardson is visiting NSA Crane at Donnelly's invitation. This will be the second time Donnelly has hosted Admiral Richardson in Indiana. The two visited BWXT's facility in Mount Vernon, Indiana, in 2015 when Admiral Richardson was director of Naval Reactors and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.

The visit will be focused on the capabilities of the base's Naval Surface Warfare Center, which is home to numerous research laboratories, testing facilities, and cutting-edge technology development centers.

"It is an honor to host the CNO and have the opportunity to demonstrate how our mission supports his four lines of effort. Senator Donnelly is committed to ensuring that DoD leadership is aware of the work we do and its' importance to our Warfighters," says Captain JT Elder, Commanding Officer of NSWC Crane.

Admiral Richardson's visit to Crane comes after Donnelly hosted U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter at Crane in June, marking the first-ever visit by a Secretary of Defense at Crane.

NSA Crane is the third largest U.S. Navy installation in the world with an annual business base of approximately $2 billion.

With nearly 3,700 civilian employees and 1,700 contractors, NSA Crane is one of Indiana's largest employers.
