Patoka Triatlon Will Affect Property Traffic For Short Time Saturday

(PATOKA) - On Saturday morning motorists may experience a slight delay if traveling into the Newton Stewart State Recreation Area at Patoka Lake.

From 8:30 a.m. until approximately 11a.m., motorists and boat ramp users will be sharing the road with approximately 150 bicyclists participating in the 4 th annual Patoka Lake Triathlon.

During this time, traffic will be halted for brief moments as bicyclists race through the property.

Areas of the property that will be directly affected are the beach, South Boat Ramp, Newton Stewart Boat Ramp, and the roads running from the Main Gate to these ramps and beach. The
beach will be closed until 1 p.m.

Anyone wishing to view the complete event is encouraged to be at the Patoka Lake beach by
8 a.m. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. starting with a swim at the beach. Athletes will then bike 12.8 miles throughout the property and finish with at 5 k run on an access lane & bike trail.
