Last updated on Wednesday, August 31, 2016

(BEDFORD) - An Oolitic woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at O Street and Garvey Lane Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Bedford Police report, 73-year-old Sharon Staley of Oolitic was traveling north on O Street when she pulled her 2004 Buick LeSabre into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 64-year-old Joe Barger of Bedford.

Barger was traveling west on John Williams Boulevard when he saw Staley disregard the stop sign and attempt to cross John Williams Boulevard. Barger says he drove his truck up onto the sidewalk in an attempt to avoid the collision.

Staley told police she didn't see any vehicles when she attempted to make a left turn onto John Williams Boulevard. She told police Barger was traveling at a high-rate of speed when the accident happened.

Barger was not injured. Staley told police she had been on chemo and was due to have some fluid removed from her liver. She was taken by an IU Health Hospital ambulance to IU Health Hospital.
