Monroe County Police Looking For Suspect In Attempted Sexual Assault

Last updated on Thursday, August 25, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County police are searching for a man who entered a home and attempted to sexually abuse a woman in Highland Village.

The home invasion and attempted sexual assault was reported Thursday around 4 p.m. in the 4100 block of West Third Street.

Police say the man, who was wearing a mask, broke in through a window and assaulted her. The woman then fought off her attacker.

She was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital to be checked out as sheriff's deputies searched the west side - near Curry Pike and Profile Parkway - looking for a white male wearing a black mask covering his face. He ran from the house; no vehicle was seen.

This is the third sexual assault in the Bloomington area.

On August 16, a man wearing a dark-colored mask grabbed a woman on the running trail near the south side YMCA around noon and dragged her into a wooded area. He tried to sexually assault her before she kicked him in the groin and he ran off.

On August 4, a woman jogging on the Clear Creek Trail between Tapp and Rockport roads in the early evening was abducted and raped nearby.

No arrests have been made in either incident.
