Last updated on Wednesday, August 3, 2016

(WASHINGTON) - A Washington man charged with child molesting in December 2014 was given a suspended sentence in Daviess Superior Court Monday afternoon.

66-year-old Rudy Z. Myers pled guilty to Level 4 felony of child molesting on May 17 of this year.

For several years Myers owned and operated Rudy's Floral Design in downtown Washington.

Judge Dean Sobecki sentenced Myers to 4,320 days in jail with that sentenced suspended. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender within 72 hours of being released and not to live within 1,000 feet of a school or youth facility. Which means Myer will have to move from his home at 706 Northeast Sixth Street because it is near North Elementary School. He also can not live within a mile of the victim and agreed to have his personal computer searched at anytime.Myers would be prohibited from visiting any illicit children's sites online and should not tamper with any such online activity in an effort to hide it from probation officials.

He was taken from the courtroom to the county's Probation Department, where he was placed on supervised probation.

The child molesting charges stemmed from an incident on Nov. 13, 2014, in which he was caught by the father of the victim engaging in an inappropriate act. The following day, during an interview with officials from the Indiana State Police and child protective services, Myers stated in his view, the incident was not sexual in nature.
