(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after police say he entered a building with two revolvers and shot up the building while wearing a Viking helmet.

Police arrested 50-year-old Kenneth "Sonny" Turpin on charges of criminal recklessness, criminal mischief, intimidation, pointing a firearm and carrying a handgun without a permit.

According to a Lawrence County Superior I probable cause affidavit, on August 10 Turpin's brother reported that Turpin entered the building 1603 J Street the day before and shot the inside of the building with two .22-caliber pistol. Officers recovered shells at the scene and found gunshot holes in the walls.

A BPD detective interviewed the man who was working at the time the shooting happened. He told police Turpin entered through the front door while wearing a shiny Viking-style helmet and carrying a guitar case.

The man said Turpin was mad at his brother.

Turpin then grabbed two revolvers out of the guitar case and strapped them to his legs. He then removed the guns from the holsters and shot at the rear wall of the building.

Turpin then began to reload his revolver and asked for a cell phone.

The man refused to give Turpin his phone. That is when Turpin pointed the guns at the man and threatened him.

Turpin then walked toward the man and fired more shots into the wall behind where the man was standing.

The man told police he believed Turpin was either under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.

On August 11, BPD interviewed Turpin's mother who said he came to her home a few days earlier, according to the affidavit.

She said he was in a confrontational mood and was carrying guitar cases with pistols he inherited from a dead family member.

She told police her son said he "was going to be in trouble because he was shooting up the town." He also told her he shot at a person's air conditioner while walking to her home.
