(BLOOMFIELD) - The Greene County Volunteer Center is organizing a day for paying tribute to Sept. 11 victims and first responders.

The Greene County Daily World reports that the day is meant to unite the county in paying tribute to the victims and first responders.

Kristy Lewellyn, the Community Outreach Coordinator is asking a coordinator in each town to invite residents to pitch-in on a particular effort like cleaning up a local park or helping out at a school.

Lewellyn added any group that contacts her to take part will receive a lunch delivered by Trinity Lutheran Church's group "God's Work. Our Hands." Pastor Doris Sparks along with Evangelical Lutheran & Thrivent Financial are preparing deliverable lunches for all locations and volunteers around 12:45 p.m. that day.

Some tasks include - Susie Schulte has arranged for volunteers to plant flower boxes at Bradfield's south-side of Bloomfield. After a short ceremony on the courthouse lawn, some volunteers will move directly to the greenhouse and begin transferring flowers into 20 inch long containers.

Flower boxes will be moved throughout the county for the torch route the following day. Schulte and the Greene County Economic Development office are accepting requests for flower boxes for $15.

Lewellyn also encourages small groups to come out and volunteer.
